When Amsterdam Premium Lager reached out, the request was simple: a new website. But it quickly became clear that what they really needed was a complete brand rethink. Something that would capture the soul of the city and speak to an international audience.
What started as a digital assignment turned into a full transformation of the brand.

The Challenge
Amsterdam Premium Lager is a fresh, fruity beer with roots deep in the heart of the city. But the existing brand identity didn’t reflect that energy. It lacked character, cultural depth, and international appeal. There was a story waiting to be told, but it hadn’t yet found its voice.

Our Approach
We began by stepping back and redefining what the brand truly represents.
Brand Positioning
We reframed the beer as a symbol of freedom, reflecting Amsterdam’s unique spirit. A place where creativity, openness, and culture collide. A beer that carries the essence of the city wherever it goes.
Visual Identity
The familiar canal houses were replaced with silhouettes of iconic nightclubs like Mazzo, Roxy, and IT. These were the places that shaped Amsterdam’s global reputation for music, nightlife, and cultural experimentation.
Storytelling
We created a timeline that traces the beer’s journey from 1860 to today. It starts with the brewing history on the Brouwersgracht and runs through the creative revolutions of the city, from squatters and artists to international celebrities who felt at home here.
Packaging Design
The new can is vibrant and modern. It stands out on the shelf and in the hand, whether you’re in a beach bar in Ibiza or a club in Tokyo. It feels premium and unmistakably Amsterdam.
